The North chancel (where the organ is) was added in the 14th century and contained an altar to St Mary. It was probably built by the owner of Lees Court (in the village) as it has a memorial to Reginald de Deyk (Dyke) who was the Sheriff of Kent in 1356. He married a widow, Lora whose eldest son Richard at Lese succeeded as Lord of the manor. He was Knight of the Shire and sat in Parliament in 1366 and was Sheriff of Kent in 1368. When he died on 20 August 1394 he was buried in the chancel where a fine canopied brass shows him fully armoured with a lion at his feet. His wife Dionisia who died in 1404 lies by his side.
